Abbott secures the second Shire London Bowl
Jamie Abbott has won the second Shire London Bowl with a steady final round of level par 72 in extremely difficult conditions to complete the two rounds in a total of 6 under par.
Scoring a solid 6 under par 66, Abbott established a 2-shot lead over Lewis Atkinson after the first day’s play at The Shire London, who are proud to be the custodians of the only Seve Ballesteros designed golf course in the United Kingdom.
The second day proved to be a difficult test of patience and endurance and experience prevailed with Abbott keeping his challengers at arm’s length throughout the day and was never seriously tested.
Tom Shadbolt came the nearest to challenging Abbott, carding an excellent 3 under par 69 to finish the tournament on 3 under par for the runners-up place.
Although the weather was not the greatest the course itself was in magnificent condition with superb greens for the players to enjoy.
The Shire London is a thriving golf club near Barnet, in Hertfordshire, with good motorway access that brings golfers to one of the best clubs in the area, where you can actually see the masterful skills of the great Severiano Ballesteros woven into the design of each hole.
The hospitality and relaxed atmosphere in the clubhouse will certainly round off your days golf and if you are lucky you may see the World Long driving Champion, Joe Miller, on the range being coached by head professional, Lee Cox.
